CommentsWell, Another year has past since we and our Aussie mates played crown and anchors! As each year passes, memories fade, but the year I served with EMU still lingers! Life is OK (GOOD) and there is hardly a day which passes that I don't think of my mates of long ago in my youth. If you have the time, stop by my site from from first tour with Charlie Co. 4th. Bn. 3rd, infantry Reg of the 11th. light infantry brigade! No matter how much life sucks, each day is a gift to be cherished! This past April 15th. I went to the wall for the first time, while there I met up with a mate from my first tour with Charlie 4/3, "Preacher" Titus. If you have not been there, please go as soon as you can. I have finally put demons to rest after nearly 30 years! My life has changed since meeting up with my long lost brother. It has changed my life. Go there and come home because we miss you! Put all the crap behind you and always remember, WE did what others feared to do and we are proud to be what we are, A PROUD VETERAN who answered the call and who still suffers the price WE PAID! "Finder", AKA DAVE CURTIN
CommentsI'm glad to see that people are starting to realize that we were not an ordinary unit. I doubt if there were any better.
Comments" Dirty Jim " Dremel called me this morning. Jim reminded me that 39 years ago today we lost Cavanaugh, Fleer, Labuda, and Moore. Some years, like this year, I just forget about it. Sometimes that day seems like it was just yesterday. There are just some things you don't forget. Sincere condolences to the families of these good men! Is there anybody else out there who remembers 2/8/68?
CommentsAfter a few discussions, it now official that a lot of the RANHFV 3rd lot are mustering in Brisbane for the ANZAC Day march 25th April for all the unknown. All welcome, I believe that we will march immediately behind the RAN FAA Assn IF some one can find some form of banner. (VB) Dave Benge
CommentsI certainly can't forget Feb 8. Glenn Moore was my classmate, and he took my place that fateful day.

CommentsHello my good friends of the 135th. I am reaching out to all of you as I am trying to raise funds to purchase a black granite stone at "The Highground" in Neillsville, WI. This is the Veteran's Memorial Park. They have a Vietnam Memorial called "Fragments" that needs a stone to explain the sacrifices and suffering the Vietnam vets experienced. To see this beautiful park please go to www.thehighground.org. My brother, Terry Mezera, has two different stones in honor of his memory. I can't tell you the comfort that this place brings to my family. They need $2,500. We have already gotten $2,000. If your are interested or have any questions please contact me. Thank you for your strength and courage to always keep us going!!
CommentsI like your web site. Brought back a lot of memories.

CommentsI was with the 135th at Ft. Hood went to Viet Nam with the 135th. and I was infused to the 240th. a short time after we got to Bearcat. The last contact I had with anyone from the 135th. or the 240th. was 1968. I wish now that I had kept in touch with that part of my life it is just a blur now. I have been in Wichita, Ks. all this time with my family 3kids, 3 stepkids and 12 grandkids. I think of all the great guys I served with every day of my life. God Bless

CommentsHello everyone! Well, I'm enjoying Melbourne weather now. Straight to the point - I've seen that Defence is putting together a Unit History of the RANHFV. Has anyone been working with a gentleman in Canberra on this? Let me know, so that I don't double-up when I contact him. Jim Hill and/or Frank Eyck in Nowra - do you know about this book? Please email me. Cheers Cath
CommentsI was told of this site by a person searching for me. The site brought a flood memories back, a lot to take in. I have a lot photos many of guys you don't show here. How do I get them to you not very good with computers. Thank you so much for this site.
CommentsI was so proud and taken back when I saw this web site a few years ago. I lost all of the pictures and movies I took while I was there in a house fire, and all the thing I could have shared with all of you. I also lost my helmet and scarf patch all is gone. But I am happy to see all is doing will. Happy Memorial Day. God bless all of you, and keep Jesus first in Your lives. Oh add me to the crew list if You will I was a door gunner.
CommentsGreat Site!!!! My Dad, Miles "Skip" Maloney, was a pilot in this unit in 1968 or 69 until 1970? I'm not sure of the exact dates or when/where he was over there in Vietnam, (I wasn't born until late 1970 @ Ft Bragg) but I do know that he was there roughly around those dates/years. I am curious to find out more about his time over there or anyone who may have known him during that time & could share their memories/stories of him. He passed in 1981 when I was 10, I do remember hearing some very vague stories before he passed from him & also from my mom when I got a little bit older. He was a GREAT man & father and I feel such great pride when I think of his time over there & his service to our country, I'm sure it couldn't have been an easy time for him or any of you, I have been told that he wasn't the same once he came back to the states.... Thank you in advance to anyone who can give me any info, etc about him!
CommentsI think this site is great!

Comments"Soldier Boy", oh my little solder boy.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY! S.W.A.K.
CommentsSince I was a private fixed-wing pilot at the time what I remember most is the flying, all 1,300 hours. Those Aussies were "awesome." As a Crew chief I flew a lot with Tim "I'm so good I should have been twins" Noyes and I saw Cooper doing things with a slick that are not in the book. Ralph was my door gunner for a while. Great ship the Huey was! Great crew! Great unit! Great page!

I am trying to locate an American soldier (gunner or crew chief) named George [Joe] Ralph (Taipan 23) who flew with Roger Cooper, Andy Perry and others. He was shot down twice. By chance does anyone know an email address for him? Regards, Steve Eather

CommentsMy name is Bill Wolf and I am the current President of the Vietnam Helicopter Crew Member’s Association (VHCMA) – an International group of over 2,900 members. Each year the VHCMA has a reunion during the month of June. Our next reunion will be June 18-22nd (2008) in St. Louis, Missouri at the Crown Plaza St. Louis Airport Hotel. I would like to invite all Vietnam helicopter crewmembers to attend. Details are on our website at: http://www.vhcma.org If you have never attended a reunion, I can tell you from personal experience it is something you will remember forever and you’ll likely be like me after your first one: “I’ll never miss another!” If you are not a member of VHCMA, I encourage you to join the over 2900 members who shared your experiences!! Hope to see you in St. Louis!! Bill Wolf, President, VHCMA (VHCMAPresident@aol.com).
CommentsHelicopter "nicknames" of the VN War is the subject of a book I'm presently researching. During this process I've documented eleven personalized names that were displayed on various 135th AHC in-country aircraft: AMERICAN WOMAN, ANGEL BABY, CALIFORNIA DREAMIN', GRIM REAPER, KAREN'S CARRIAGE, MISS JUDY, THE BOSS, THE BOSS'S HOSS II, TUPELO MISSISSIPPI FLASH, VUNG TAU EXPRESS. I'm wondering if this number accurately reflects the total output produced by crews of the 135th AHC who might have painted something special on the nose, door or fuselage of their Vietnam based copters. There has never been a comprehensive cataloging of personalized "names" before. This attempt will be the first, and hopefully, the most complete tabulation of Army copter "nose-art nicknames" ever. Therefore, it is important that the published database (late 2008) include all known 135th AHC copter names as possible. I ask that you notify your members about this project and that you forward their input to me. Scanned photos are welcomed, but not necessary. Sincerely, John Brennan, active member in the VHCMA & 114 Avn Co Assn; former SP5, 114 AHC, Vinh Long AAF, 1970-71, Mekong Delta
