morning. We both have vivid memories of Feb 8 1968. Hard to believe that was 42
years ago. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday but I can still see
the events of Feb 8 1968. Must be getting old! Would like to hear from anyone
who remembers the Tet Offensive.

I was assigned to the 135th ACH from the activation at Ft. Hood until I was
reassigned in Vung Tau as the battalion information officer. I regret I cannot
recall the bn. designation. At Ft. Hood I was the supply officer and assisted
CPT John Smith (I believe) in deploying the unit to Viet Nam. I briefly served
as company intel off in Vung Tau until transferred.
I also served in the 117th AHC in Dong Ba Thin in 1965-66 when the 135th was
there as a Caribou company. One of the pilots was a classmate when we were Army
dependents at Ft. Kobbe, CZ about 15 years earlier. Small world.
If this bit of information helps anyone fill any gaps in the unit history I am
happy to offer it.

I really enjoyed the site. I was with the 135th from Feb 1967 till Oct 1968. At
Camp Black Horse I was the Intell Sgt, Perimeter Guard platoon Sgt, flew as a
door gunner pretty often on both slicks and guns (mostly guns) and at one time
ran the unit lounge. I was medically retired from the service in 1972. I am now
an Apostolic Minister with the United Pentecostal Church. I would really like to
contact SFC Emilio Apadaca, if anyone knows his whereabouts

Gentlemen,
Just need to touch base with you all before I finalize this book project for
publication. I'll be sending the results of this huge undertaking, U.S. ARMY
HELICOPTER NAMES IN VIETNAM, to the publisher at the end of December 2010. It's
taken six years to gather 2,900 copter "names" that crews & pilots painted on
their rotor aircraft between 1962-73.
May I hit you up once again for crew names, chopper tail/serial #'s,
nose/door/doghouse art images and copter "names" either verbally applied to a
unit's helo or painted on the fuselage of that scout/slick/gun/cargo/dustoff/medevac
ship.
Please inform everyone you know that the time to contribute is now. This
compilation of "names" can only be termed a success when ALL the names get
recorded. I believe that what I have collected to date represents the MAJORITY
of those that were inscribed and painted on our in-country birds. Posterity will
safeguard those that are saved for history. Those that go un-recorded will
regrettably chip away & erode our collective in-country legacy. Thank you
gentlemen and fellow veterans, let's also welcome home some of our long lost
aviation history. John Brennan, former SP5, 114 AHC, 1970-71, Vinh Long AAF,
Mekong Delta. My email address is johnmailman[at]yahoo.com.
