Over the past 6 mo. I have made a great friend. He was a crew chief in the
135th. His name is Bob Cosgiff, not only has he became a good friend but a great
inspiration to me as I am old enough to be his son. I would like to thank him
and all of you in the 135th for all you did for this country. Your efforts and
losses will never be forgotten in my home. Thank You.

I just wanted to let you know your web site is great. I still treasure all
the friendships I made at the reunion in Texas. The 135th does have wonderful
people in it. I know my brother, Terry Mezera, was well taken care of. Thank you
and God Bless all of you for what you have done for our country. And thank you
for your friendships, our family appreciates them.

Great web site!!! Flew a lot with “Gross” John Sprewell and “Dirty” Al
Rubino, Tim Noyes and Phil Russo. Buzz Gagne was my crew chief. I believe the
“unknown” in the photo by the bar-b-cue pit is WO Ralph Elliott. Bill, if I can
help in any way, please email me. Thanks again for the wonderful website. I
didn’t know it existed.

35 years ago the Tet Offensive exploded across Vietnam. History has shown
this to be a key event in the Vietnam War. Those of us who were there will
always remember the Tet Offensive. Let us not forget the friends we lost: Sp4
Richard Cavanaugh, CPT Robert Fleer, Pfc Alan LA Buda, WO1 Glenn Moore, and LCDR
Patrick Vickers. Sincere condolences to the families of these men for their
loss.

I am thankful for just being able to be here, as I get older and look back, I
am so grateful for all the friends I have made here along the way. I have moved
a lot, my email has changed, a lot. But I am still here. I look to the Lord for
all my needs now. I gave up the booze, just getting to old to drink and going to
jail because I drove home some night is not my cup of tea. I have a beautiful
wife and three teenage girls. The Lord has blessed me with happiness so I am
going to show him I am grateful. Steve Clark Moreno Valley, Ca 92555

So, that you’re all aware – I have moved from Canberra to Darwin in the
Northern Territory. I am unable to set up my office at the moment, so won’t be
rejoining the email list for about another month. If you need my new contact
details please email. (if someone who is on the email list sees this can you
please let Frank Eyck know – I don’t have his email in order to pass on my
details for the newsletter to be posted to me). Apologies for the delay in
putting the book together – it is still on my agenda. I am contemplating
approaching a military historian to collaborate on the factual recount of the
book. If this comes off it will be in full swing.

I remember you guys up at Red Horse and all that red mud and red dust visible
for 50 miles at altitude. Met you at many POL’s and Bear Cat, Hotel 3, French
Fort, Duc Hoa, Ving Long, Dong Tam, Song Be, Lock Nhin, Bu Dop, Qaun Loi,
Dautieng, Swan Loc, Phan Thiet, Nhui Dat, & out in the bush. Went on some
combined missions with you folks, the 117th, 191st, & 240th AHC’s and kicked
some butt in the Delta in April ‘n May ’68. Great site, welcome home guys.

Forget to mention the (Where) in the Where/When section. Just below the 199th
LIB near 11 FF and on the Plantation AAF at Long Binh along with the 17th, 117th
AHC’s stationed there too at one time or another. The 17th AHC went north with
the 308th CAB 101st ABN and we lost lots of people by infusion to them. A few
were KIA up North with them there. I have attended some VHCMA reunions and drank
a lot of beer with former memembers of the 135th AHC there as 195th AHC crews
are hard to find there. Most attend SOA, Special Operations Association in Las
Vegas in Sept. each year as we supported Special Operations in Vietnam, Seals,
MACV-SOG, and groups like that. You fellas did a lot of them kind of over the
border missions too that didn’t get much mention either. They way I see it
everybody did a bunch of everything there could be done with helicopters when we
were there-and some more…

names I do not see – LTC Osbourne, CPT Terry Clark, Larry Dollar, Terry Hunt,
1LT Jim Konoske, Dexter Miracle, Andy Simoneaux, Jackie Porchay, Landry, Crim,
1SGTs Barnett, Florin, and Judy, Hemminger, Gerry Shook Farmer, and so many
others I cannot remember. Then there was Fritz the dog and MAJ Raetz’s EMU
Drive-In. One thing I will never forget though was the day we lost “Blue”
StClair. Thanks guys. A great job. I Think I may still have some pictures from
late 1968. Will try to find them.

I was a SP4 in POL when I arrived, set up a refueling point at some
god-forsaken firebase on the Cambodian border, and flew as a gunner with the
Dueces a few times (not enough to get an AM or wings) Then, Top learned I could
type. I was the Company Clerk when the unit was deactivated. (… knew every
man’s name, rank, DOB, and SSN then, but darned if I can remember but a few
names now) I have some shots of Di An from the ATC tower down by POL, and some
shots of the effect of a sapper-attack on the flight-line. I’ll see if any of
them are scannable, and, if so, will make them available for you should you
like. A friend indeed.

I just found this website a couple of days ago. I made contact with Wally
Williamson, about a month ago when he sent a letter to my home in Steilacoom,
WA, 98388 and asked if I was in the 135th in VN during 1968. He lives in Lake
Mary, Florida. Jeff Drolshagen lives in Gig Harbor, WA and is a building
contractor/ lawyer. Good to find this site. Rudy Davis EMU 29

I think this is a very good web site. I wasn’t stationed at Dong Tam but I
staged missions out of there and flew over it many times. I can still hear those
VNAF ships calling Dong Tam ARTY before they would leave. “This is VNAF flight
calling Dong Tam ARTY – WE GO NOW”

I was the Leading Sick Berth Attendant (Medic) for the 135th AHC. My name was
then Frank/Blackie/Doc. I also worked in the operating theatres at Blackhorse
and later at Xuan Loc civy Hosp. I also flew as door gunner in ‘Smokie’ when due
to injuries they were short of men. This is the first time I have realised that
this site existed. I haven’t surfed it all yet, my server is very slow. I was
looking for photos. And any information to the whereabouts of film that was made
of the RAN participating in 135th. This site is very exciting, Like most of us I
have lost contact, and haven’t spoken about our ‘time’, but now the memories are
flooding in and its so good to find some connection to the 135th. And to see the
respect and remembrance of our fallen heroes–I thought we were all forgotten,
that is those of us who remain.

I was the crewchief on the ship 053 until it got shot up along with me. After
053 was destroyed and I got out of the 24th Evac. hospital and back to
Blackhorse I got a new ship. We got enough parts from the 145th to build a smoke
ship. I was crewchief on Smokey until I came home in December of 1968.
