Well, Another year has past since we and our Aussie mates played crown and
anchors! As each year passes, memories fade, but the year I served with EMU
still lingers! Life is OK (GOOD) and there is hardly a day which passes that I
don’t think of my mates of long ago in my youth. If you have the time, stop by
my site from from first tour with Charlie Co. 4th. Bn. 3rd, infantry Reg of the
11th. light infantry brigade! No matter how much life sucks, each day is a gift
to be cherished! This past April 15th. I went to the wall for the first time,
while there I met up with a mate from my first tour with Charlie 4/3, “Preacher”
Titus. If you have not been there, please go as soon as you can. I have finally
put demons to rest after nearly 30 years! My life has changed since meeting up
with my long lost brother. It has changed my life. Go there and come home
because we miss you! Put all the crap behind you and always remember, WE did
what others feared to do and we are proud to be what we are, A PROUD VETERAN who
answered the call and who still suffers the price WE PAID! “Finder”, AKA DAVE

” Dirty Jim ” Dremel called me this morning. Jim reminded me that 39 years
ago today we lost Cavanaugh, Fleer, Labuda, and Moore. Some years, like this
year, I just forget about it. Sometimes that day seems like it was just
yesterday. There are just some things you don’t forget. Sincere condolences to
the families of these good men! Is there anybody else out there who remembers
2/8/68?

Hello my good friends of the 135th. I am reaching out to all of you as I am
trying to raise funds to purchase a black granite stone at “The Highground” in
Neillsville, WI. This is the Veteran’s Memorial Park. They have a Vietnam
Memorial called “Fragments” that needs a stone to explain the sacrifices and
suffering the Vietnam vets experienced. To see this beautiful park please go to
www.thehighground.org. My brother, Terry Mezera, has two different stones in
honor of his memory. I can’t tell you the comfort that this place brings to my
family. They need $2,500. We have already gotten $2,000. If your are interested
or have any questions please contact me. Thank you for your strength and courage
to always keep us going!!

Great Site!!!! My Dad, Miles “Skip” Maloney, was a pilot in this unit in 1968
or 69 until 1970? I’m not sure of the exact dates or when/where he was over
there in Vietnam, (I wasn’t born until late 1970 @ Ft Bragg) but I do know that
he was there roughly around those dates/years. I am curious to find out more
about his time over there or anyone who may have known him during that time &
could share their memories/stories of him. He passed in 1981 when I was 10, I do
remember hearing some very vague stories before he passed from him & also from
my mom when I got a little bit older. He was a GREAT man & father and I feel
such great pride when I think of his time over there & his service to our
country, I’m sure it couldn’t have been an easy time for him or any of you, I
have been told that he wasn’t the same once he came back to the states…. Thank
you in advance to anyone who can give me any info, etc about him!

Since I was a private fixed-wing pilot at the time what I remember most is
the flying, all 1,300 hours. Those Aussies were “awesome.” As a Crew chief I
flew a lot with Tim “I’m so good I should have been twins” Noyes and I saw
Cooper doing things with a slick that are not in the book. Ralph was my door
gunner for a while. Great ship the Huey was! Great crew! Great unit! Great page!

reunion will be June 18-22nd (2008) in St. Louis, Missouri at the Crown Plaza

attended a reunion, I can tell you from personal experience it is something you
will remember forever and you’ll likely be like me after your first one: “I’ll
never miss another!” If you are not a member of VHCMA, I encourage you to join

Helicopter “nicknames” of the VN War is the subject of a book I’m presently
researching. During this process I’ve documented eleven personalized names that
were displayed on various 135th AHC in-country aircraft: AMERICAN WOMAN, ANGEL
BABY, CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’, GRIM REAPER, KAREN’S CARRIAGE, MISS JUDY, THE BOSS,
THE BOSS’S HOSS II, TUPELO MISSISSIPPI FLASH, VUNG TAU EXPRESS. I’m wondering if
this number accurately reflects the total output produced by crews of the 135th
AHC who might have painted something special on the nose, door or fuselage of
their Vietnam based copters. There has never been a comprehensive cataloging of
personalized “names” before. This attempt will be the first, and hopefully, the
most complete tabulation of Army copter “nose-art nicknames” ever. Therefore, it
is important that the published database (late 2008) include all known 135th AHC
copter names as possible. I ask that you notify your members about this project
and that you forward their input to me. Scanned photos are welcomed, but not
necessary. Sincerely, John Brennan, active member in the VHCMA& 114 Avn Co Assn;
former SP5, 114 AHC, Vinh Long AAF, 1970-71, Mekong Delta

I have to say thank you for this web site. It took 4 years but I have finally
been in contact with Mike Conley, thanks to this site. I have been able to thank
him for the wonderful thing he did for my mother. If it weren’t for this site I
don’t know that I would have been able to make contact. Thank you, Thank you,
Thank you.
Edit: You’re welcome Dina.

Sir, I am a serving Mbr of the RAE. My father was in the workshops at
Blackhorse, an EMU. His memory is not what it used to be but I would like any
info that is about. He was in the RAN as a jet aircraft mechanic. Any info
anyone has would be greatly appreciated. His name is Kevin “Froggy” French.
Regards.

I’ve been looking for anyone that was in crash-rescue at Bearcat in 69. Leroy
Dickerson and I stayed in touch but I lost touch with everyone else. Also
looking for Charlie Pitt, he was an air controller in the 315ASD. Peace to all
in the so called Golden Years. Keep the FAITH.
