Well 40 years ago I was at Blackhorse Base camp. ( a clearing in the Jungle
is what it was ) I went on a vacation in 07, first one in a long time as I don’t
get out much. So 08 is upon us and we will see who go’s in the Whitehouse. I
have some Medical problems as do all of us, I am kinda of lucky, I can still get
around. And I could not be happier about finding this web site it has been a
comfort to me and my Family and I enjoy the chit chat on all subjects, lots of
laughs. So enjoy 2008 and good luck and fair weather to all.

Date: 26 June 2008 00:51 -0400 Soldier Boy, no I didn’t forget. The Guest
Book was down for awhile, so a belated Happy Birthday! I hope you had a
wonderful celebration. I just want to let you know that I sold my house recently
(because of two extremely difficult years) & am now leasing in the same complex.
For a second time I thought I was going to the other state but am so happy to
remain in a place I’ve loved my entire life. You have turned my heart upside
down & inside out & you are never out of my mind or my heart. We’re not getting
any younger & life is taking its toll so I have some letters for you. If you
want them, please let me know how to do that. Otherwise if anything happens to
me, I will have someone get in touch with you. I pray that you are well & that
both of our heart’s desires will be realized some day in the not too distant
future. There are no adequate words to tell you that all you’ve given me is
cherished every single day & will be forever. With my love always & S.W.A.K.

Please add my name to the gen maint. roster. I served with the 135th in
Bearcat and then in Dong Tam ( 6/1/70 to 5/2/71 ). I was very happy to come
across this web site. I would like to know if any one can tell me what happened
to my four legged friend SAM the dog. SAM always liked the early morning rides
with the pilots to the airstrip. When the company moved from Bearcat to Dong Tam
the order was NO-PETS. Sam was the only one to get to go. He was taken along in
the company commanders jeep. I looked into taking him home with me but it could
not be done. I hope all my friends are doing well, but not being able to take of
himself, I often wonder what happened to SAM.

Hi to all the EMUs.
I have returned from a vacation in USA with my bride and my daughter and once
again had a wonderful time. Mike Guard and myself got together at St Louis at
the VHCMA reunion. There were two others ?? from the 135th who were really
pleased to be there too. The floods were incredible too. Mike Guard launched his
book there “From the Sanctity of the Snake Pit”. Great read. See his web page:
www.michaeldguard.com.
We also flew in Geoff Carr’s Huey in SF with Wayne Terry.
What a thrill that was along with the social interlude afterwards. Talk about
fun then there was the cabbie from hell who drove us back to the Palace Hotel on
Market Street in record time. He was Russian and thought that every STOP sign
was a McDonalds sign… or he was a stunt driver for a movie. Incredible day of
excitement.
BTW Does any one have any memories of the transfer convoy to Dong Tam from
Bearcat, September 1970? Love to speak with them about it.
OK guys, love to all

Long time no speakee… would you believe it’s 40years tomorrow that I and my
mates landed back in Sydney after the 12month tour of FUNNYLAND. It’s a date I
cannot forget….16.10.68…my birthday… I left Sydney on my birthday and
12months later I arrived back on my birthday. I stay in touch with a few of the
mates; especially my crewchief, Jerry Ables. Tomorrow I reckon I will have a few
beers and toast the absent and departed…it’s the usual thing I do each year.
This website is a beauty, so I hope entries continue to arrive for the Webmaster
to publish, as many of us like to re-visit it just to stay in touch with
reality.
Best regards

all.
The New Year (tomorrow) is January 1 / 2009 and I wish all EMU’s and their
families a great year no matter where you are situated.
But having said that there are a lot of variables in the wind Good or not so
good?? BUT There is a chance of us getting together again like Charlotte NC in
2000. What a blast It was a very good reunion to say the least.
